Seventh Fire In 4 Years At Kensington Club Luxury Apartments In Lancaster Twp. Displaces 2

Two people are out of their home after the seventh fire in four years at the Kensington Club Luxury Apartments on Sunday night.

Crews were called to the 600 block of Wyncroft Lane in the apartment complex shortly before 9 p.m., according to Lancaster Township Volunteer Fire Department Capt. Greg Leaman.

The fire was under control by 9:30 p.m. but smoke wafted into neighboring apartments forcing residents to evacuate as crews vented the structures.

Firefighters remained at the scene until shortly after 11:30 p.m.

Sunday's fire was at least the seventh fire at the apartment complex in the past four years, according to LNP:
  • An ember from a brush fire ignited dry debris on the roof of one of the apartment buildings in March 2021.
  • Eight people were displaced after a kitchen fire broke out in a kitchen of one of the apartments, in November 2020.
  • More than 30 people were displaced from a fire in the apartment building, in December 2019.
  • A heater caught fire in a residence on the third floor of one of the apartment buildings, in October 2018.
  • A fire caused $1.2 million in damages and displaced a couple dozen people, In March 2018.
  • A kitchen fire resulted in one person being hospitalized, in March 2017.

No injuries were reported in Sunday's fire. One adult and child, who were not home at the time, were displaced, said Capt. Leaman.

The estimated total damages, including building and contents damages, is around $125,000.

A Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshall is investigating the cause of the fire.
